Privacy policy

This policy explains how the SiteBrief Android app and the SiteBrief website handle information. It describes what the current version of the app actually does. SiteBrief is published by BMS22 SCAFFOLDING LTD.

The short version

  • SiteBrief has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics, no tracking and no crash reporting.
  • Everything you record in the app stays on your phone, in storage that other apps cannot read.
  • The app has no permission to use the internet. We never receive your surveys, photos or client details.
  • Information leaves your phone only when you choose to share or save a PDF or a backup file.

Who we are

SiteBrief is published by BMS22 SCAFFOLDING LTD, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17459619. Registered office address: Suite 682, 80a Ruskin Avenue, Welling, Kent, DA16 3QQ.

For information handled only on your phone (see below), we do not receive or control that information: you do. For any information you send to us directly, for example if you contact us, BMS22 SCAFFOLDING LTD is the data controller.

What the app stores on your phone

When you use the app you may enter:

  • site details: the site name, the address and a description of the proposed works;
  • client details, if you add them: a name and a phone number or email address;
  • photos you take or choose, with captions and pins you add;
  • approximate measurements, their source and notes;
  • answers to access questions, observations, open questions and notes;
  • optional preferences: your name and organisation for reports, and your preferred units.

This information is stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else by the app. Android system backup is turned off for SiteBrief, so this information is not copied to your Google account by Android. It is removed when you delete a survey, use “Delete all data” in Settings, or uninstall the app.

The app does not encrypt this information itself. It relies on the protection Android gives each app’s private storage and on your phone’s screen lock.

Camera and photos

  • Taking photos: SiteBrief opens your phone’s camera app. The photo is handed to SiteBrief and stored privately. Some camera apps may also keep their own copy, depending on their settings.
  • Choosing photos: SiteBrief uses the Android photo picker. The app only receives the photos you select. It cannot see the rest of your photo library.
  • Location: SiteBrief does not ask for access to your location. Camera apps can add a location to a photo’s hidden information (metadata). SiteBrief removes all photo metadata, including any location, when it adds a photo to a survey. The copy stored by the app and the photos in your PDFs do not contain it.

The app does not request the camera permission, the photos and media permissions, the location permission or the contacts permission.

PDF briefs and backups

  • A PDF brief is created on your phone. Before creating it you choose whether to include client details and internal notes.
  • A backup is a single file with all your surveys and photos. It is created only when you ask for one. It is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.
  • You decide where these files go. You can use the Android share menu, save a copy with the system file dialog, or open the PDF in another app. Once you send a file to another app or service, such as email, a messaging app or cloud storage, that service handles it under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • If you share a brief that contains client details, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to share them.

What we receive

The app sends us nothing. We do not receive usage statistics, device identifiers, crash reports, your surveys, photos or client details.

We only receive information if you choose to contact us, for example by email or post. We use it to reply and keep it only as long as needed for that purpose. Privacy questions: privacy@bms22.living. Support: support@bms22.living.

The website

The SiteBrief website is a set of static pages. It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking. It does not load fonts or scripts from other companies’ servers, and it has no forms.

The website includes a demo of the app that runs in your browser with example data. Anything you type in the demo, and any photos you choose from your device, stay in that browser tab: they are not sent to us or to anyone else, nothing is saved in your browser, and everything is gone when you reload or close the page. PDFs you download from the demo are saved by your browser like any other download.

When you visit, the company that hosts the website receives the technical information every web request involves, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you requested, and may keep it in server logs for security and reliability. The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., which receives this technical information when you visit. Their privacy information: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-notice.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and object to or restrict how we use it. Information stored in the app is on your own phone, so you can view, change or delete it there at any time.

To make a request, contact us using the details in this policy. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled.

Children

SiteBrief is a work tool for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this policy before releasing that version and change the date at the top.
